The central location in the middle of the Mediterranean and the wonderful weather make Malta an ideal place to learn the English language. The Maltese Islands comprise three main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino.

Malta was an important and central location in the past and therefore hard-fought over. Many nations, including the Phoenicia, the Romans, the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, the Arabs, the French and the British have at one time occupied the small island and strongly left their tracks. It is to these influences that Malta owes its diverse history. In 1964 Malta received her independence and has been a member of the European Union since 2003.

From 1814 to 1964 Malta was a colony of the British Empire. During this time the Island and its people were heavily stamped with a British identity. One of the two official languages of Malta is English, the Maltese drive on the left hand side and they enjoy a typical English breakfast. The two biggest newspapers of the island are printed in English.
